Right now the world is getting hit with hard times. There is a lot of worry, stress and uncertainty. But focusing on that, and that alone, does no one any good. My sisters and I we believe it is important to stay positive. We try our best to Follow our parents example and all that they have taught us. In times of fear one should choose to act with love.
As a family, we asked ourselves what we could be doing for others. Together, we came up with a few ways we could help within our own community. With the Stay at home order in place, empty grocery store shelves, out of stock necessities online, loved ones sick, We may not have everything we want, but if we take the time to look around us we will find we already have all that we could ever need. ❤️
We discussed how we could help our at risk elderly, All the children who were dependent on meals through the school, that would now go without due to school closures. And then as more time passed we realized that we were all in need. So then, our new goal became to create a safe space where all individuals could come without shame to get any and all that they need. And from there, we sketched out a few drawings, and created a community garden, where we could grow fruits and vegetables and neighbors could come take what they need as they grew.
A blessing box where the community could take and donate any dry goods and/or non perishable items. And Our Sutton Girls Farmers Market, Where we could put out fresh produce for the community and people could come and take what they need, and leave what they can.
All is free. And All are welcome. The produce is brought in each afternoon, refrigerated, and brought back out every morning from 9-4. We replenish as needed and will continue to do so each day until our world is healed ❤️. We take turns making videos and posting on facebooks to let the community of livermore know what is available each day.
Our family is overjoyed with the response we have been getting due to this. Neighbors/ members of the community have been dropping off lemons and oranges from their fruit trees, vegetables from their gardens, and have remembered us during their trips to the grocery store. In addition, numerous businesses have reached out with contributions of fresh fruits, vegetables, eggs, bread and non perishable items such as pasta, rice, flour, sugar, and any/all canned goods. At the request of the community we have also started a venmo account @TheSuttonGirls where individuals can Make donations to those most vulnerable. We started on March 14 and continue to provide and serve each day.
It makes our hearts happy that our neighbors/ and community of livermore are finding comfort in All that we have built as a family. I think it is important for kids and girls like us, to see that there is power in our kindness and that our actions have inspired others to pay it forward in numerous ways. we are So incredibly grateful to this incredibly thoughtful community that we are living in ?.
Love is so many things.
And during this time of uncertainty The last thing you should have to worry about is where your next meal is coming from. Compassion for each other is everything right now.
For those who’s wages have been cut or are gone, For those who’s Plates are empty, and Are in need Of food, For those who are Vulnerable, have been affected by Covid19, have no home, Or are in need of a little extra hope. Let us be there.
Thanks to the generosity of our community we are here. With hope, kindness, and without discrimination. Today, tomorrow, and everyday until our world is healed. Let us help take care of you.
Together we can give and make a difference in someone’s life. We are all in this together.
Please take care of yourself and each other. Stay safe. From our family to yours
